Yuck is a fairly new band, so don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of them. They put out a sometimes gross and totally NSFW video late last year that garnered a dose of love from some quarters (including mine). They’ve been called a “shoegazey Sonic Youth,” and if you enjoy 90s alternative rock, you may very well dig Yuck. I do.

But the song that has been echoing around in my mind lately is a departure from that sound. It’s a haunting piano piece — a cover of a song called “Despite Everything” by Porcelain Raft — and I just can’t get enough of it.

“I think we’re about to be dropped in the middle of the ocean/Hope you know how to swim and to hold your breath deep …”

Listen to it here or go ahead and download it here, cuz you know you’re going to want it.

For more Yuck, take a gander at their Myspace page.
