There have been a lot of bench marks as the City of Yankton has negotiated a deal for a retail development near the Highway 81/Highway 50 intersection on the north side of the community that would include a Menards store. Well, the paperwork is now officially complete for the deal, meaning dirt work can commence.
The city manager’s office reported today that:
All land transactions have occurred with the North Retail Development. We also completed our bond issuance for this project following the land closing. With these activities, all the clauses in the development agreements with Greenbow Realty and Menards Inc. become effective. We anticipate dirt work to begin at the site early this summer.
Menards has said it plans to open its Yankton branch in spring 2012. No word yet on what other commercial developments may follow at the site.
