According to City Manager Doug Russell, Menards broke ground on its Yankton location last week. I may finally get to stop fielding questions from people about whether “that Menards project is really going to happen.” 🙂 Because of the state of the economy and the length of time it took to finalize the deal between Menards, the developer and the city, many people were skeptical.
Well, here is what Russell included in his most recent report to the City Commission:
Earthwork for the Menard’s development project has begun. The contractors are on an extremely fast
schedule. They anticipate that footing work for the building will begin in early July. Slowey Construction Inc. is the prime contractor for the site preparation and public infrastructure portions of the project. Slowey Construction and Menards will employ a number of local subcontractors during the course of project construction.
Menards fans — which I know are many — rejoice!
