Susan Boyle Covers Depeche Mode — And Doesn’t Murder ‘Enjoy The Silence’ As Fans Feared

Well, this fan doesn’t think she murdered it, anyway.

You’ve got to understand how important Depeche Mode is to me. “Enjoy The Silence” was a revelation to me in 1990, and the album “Violator” changed my life. It opened my eyes to a new musical world and defined style and sexuality for me as a teen. (I mean, look how cool the band looks in the video below).

Depeche Mode remains my favorite band to this day, having been there for me in good times and bad. Yep, our relationship has stood strong through the years.

When I saw a headline touting the fact that Susan Boyle had covered one of my all-time favorite songs, I cringed. I know I wasn’t alone.

“How bad will it be?” I thought.

But then I took a listen, and was pleasantly surprised. I not only don’t hate it, I like it — and I’ve listened to it several times. Nice work, Susan! Sorry for being a hater!
