‘Occupy Vermillion’ To Gather Saturday

I received notification that a group of people are planning a protest for Saturday in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement. It will be one of many protests taking place this Saturday across the United States. Here is the release they sent us:

VERMILLION — A group of citizens calling themselves “Vermillionaires Against Corporate Greed” will come together at the plaza in Downtown Vermillion at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, to protest what they see as the overwhelming influence of corporate greed in American politics.
Occupy Vermillion is a demonstration of solidarity with the recent Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City and across the United States. Protesters in New York and elsewhere have had various demands: an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, electoral finance reform, expanded health insurance coverage for working Americans, and much else besides.
Saturday’s demonstration will feature an array of local musicians and speakers and last throughout the afternoon.

  1. Sooo happy to see this! I was looking at the map of Occupy protests around the country and feeling sad that South Dakota was one of the few states that seemed to be without one. Not anymore! Go Vermillion!
