The Brookings Register has an interesting story about twin females who work in law enforcement.

I mention it here because they have a Yankton connection: They are the cousins of Duane Heeney, Yankton’s late police chief.

Darci and Marci Gebers serve city, county as law enforcement officers

Growing up in a small farming community east of Sioux City, Iowa, Marci Gebers always knew she wanted to be a law enforcement officer.

So did her identical twin sister, Darci Gebers.

“Ever since we were little. Our uncle was sheriff of our home county for 28 years,” Marci said.

A cousin, Duane Heeney, was also in law enforcement, serving as police chief in Yankton for 13 years and sheriff of Buena Vista County, Iowa, before that.

The twins, now 29, were encouraged to pursue the career by their parents, Mary and Darrell Gebers, and by their three older brothers. Their mom, a nurse, was their biggest supporter in this and their model in serving people around her.
